Phil's Versailles' collection...
1979 & 1980 Lincoln Versailles' - Both powered by 302CID V8 engine with C4 automatic transmission. They have 9inch pumpkin and 4-Wheel Disc Hydroboost brakes. That was the standard configuration for years '78 through '80 (the 1977's came with the 351W except in California).
Here is what Phil says about his cars:
The Diamond Blue Versailles is a 1979. I bought this locally with 147,000 miles on the "clock". It has a Wedgwood Blue leather interior and surprisingly it runs extremely well for it's age. I have driven it to Maine, Rhode Island and Delaware on vacations, with no problems what so ever. I'm currently working on the suspension and engine, getting it ready for the Ford 100th event in June. This exterior color was a standard Versailles offering, but rarely seen. Lincoln used it on the Diamond Jubilee Edition Mark IV as well. I get many looks of approval when driving this one down the Interstate.
The Black & Silver "Dual Shade" is a 1980 model that I found forgotten at an Auto Body shop in Freeport Maine. I am the third owner and it has only 70,000 miles on it. The body still needs cosmetic work. As you can see from the photo, the rear bumper is off, being re-plated as I write this. The interior is in the Dark Red color with leather buckets. I have done some engine work and changed out a few mechanical components. When completely restored, this Versailles will be a knock-out with in this original color scheme and it's genuine Lincoln Wire Wheel covers. When I bought the car, there was a set of deer antlers in the rear seat, don't ask me why.
Both my cars are completely STOCK. Nothing unauthentic or incorrect. I plan to continue with that practice, as difficult as it may be...
Thank you, Phil, for photos and description of your Versailles'.
